From the founding of PEC in 1984 by Suraj Tschand — a former Bell Laboratories senior engineer — to our 2025 statewide contracts with the Tennessee Department of Health and Kansas City Public Library, every year has added another chapter. Below is the long version.

2020s · AI, cloud, and statewide deployments

The Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) of Youngstown, Ohio selects PEC's AI-enabled VoiceSaver® as its primary voice communications platform. Adds interactive voice response (IVR), automatic call distribution (ACD), speech recognition, and transcription.
January 2025
VoiceSaver® enhanced to allow Microsoft Teams users to make domestic and international calls through the public telephone network. Services software runs on Cisco routers.
November 2024
VoiceSaver® enhanced to support the STIR/SHAKEN framework — addressing caller ID spoofing and robocalls by verifying call authenticity in telecommunications networks.
March 2024
VoiceSaver® 64-bit deployed by multiple state departments of transportation across the U.S.A.
April 2023
VoiceSaver® 64-bit enhanced to support the Voice Message Transcribed Text Feature powered by AI. Recipients receive both the traditional voice recording and a searchable transcribed text version.
October 2022
VoiceSaver® 64-bit enhanced to run on both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure cloud services. Software has its own NAT module — no external units required.
June 2022
VoiceSaver® 64-bit upgraded to comply with STIR/SHAKEN compliance protocols.
March 2021
VoiceSaver® enhanced to run on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Important for voice service bureaus who don't want to maintain hardware infrastructure, and allows deployment in any AWS-hosted country.

PEC deploys VoiceSaver® PBX over the cloud. Full PBX functionality supporting remote teams — voice and fax terminals, automated attendant, voicemail, IVR, call centers, voice-to-email, fax-to-email. Supports GrandStream, Cisco, Snom, Yealink, and PEC SoftPhones.

Arya Tschand, an intern with PEC, files a patent application with the US Patent Office for "Intelligent Color Observation System to Sustain Ideal Crop Health".
August 2019
PEC ports VoiceSaver® software to 64-bit environment. Takes advantage of extra computer memory and supports more ports. Runs in native mode rather than the 32-bit version's emulation mode.
March 2019
PEC introduces its GUI drag-and-drop IVR applications generator. System integrators and end-users can implement call flows easily — optimized for sales, customer service, and other departments.
January 2018
PEC incorporates Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its VoiceSaver® product line. First applications focus on optimizing purchases for export markets.
July 2015
PEC develops the cellular phone top-off feature — an account holder anywhere in the world can add funds to their cellular phone account. Allows a U.S. resident to add funds to relatives' cell phones anywhere globally.
October 2014
PEC writes analytic software for solar marketing companies. Based on address and phone number, comes up with a list of potential addresses for solar panel installation — optimizing visits by solar professionals.
November 2012
PEC signs a long-term lease with IO Data Centers of New Jersey — one of the world's largest data centers with 1,000,000 square feet of space and 60,000 kW electric generating capacity.
February 2012
PEC offers Toll-Free Termination over VoIP (Free Service) and announces the release of DialSaver Auto Dialer Systems — the first multi-user web-enabled software package in the market.
January 2012
PEC introduces three free iPhone apps: CardSaver iAgent, DialSaver, and Free Toll Free.
June 2011
PEC releases upgraded DialSaver Multiuser Dialout Systems. Allows individual web-based access and management by several users on one system — convenience, complete control, easy administration.

PEC adds Callback support to CardSaver.
2000s · VoIP, billing, and international expansion
November 2009
PEC adds direct Asterisk integration to the CardSaver Product. Allows Asterisk system users to provide call control with both prepaid and postpaid support.
August 2009
PEC adds direct Cisco Call Routing Support to CardSaver — enabling least-cost routing.
June 2009
PEC adds Direct dial support to CardSaver — customers can set specific access numbers to forward automatically.
April 2009
CardSaver adds Auto Recharge support — end customer accounts replenished automatically when balance runs low.
February 2009
PEC introduces DialSaver version 2.0 with enhanced features and reporting.
December 2008
PEC begins offering toll-free services to customers.
January 2007
PEC adds hosted services (IVR, CardSaver, etc.) to meet customer demand for reliable, cost-effective business solutions.
October 2006
PEC purchases a new 9,000 square foot office building in Noida, India and relocates its Indian operation. The facility is used for R&D and support.
June 2005
VoiceSaver Voicemail, DialSaver, TimeSaver Predictive Dialer, and Insight IVR all become VoIP-enabled. Products interact directly with VoIP phone service providers for inbound and outbound calls.
April 2005
PEC adds SIP support to CardSaver. Combined with a SIP server, CardSaver now enables prepaid and postpaid SIP networks.
March 2004
PEC relocates its Indian branch to a larger 3,000 square foot office in the Greater Kailash section of New Delhi.
October 2003
PEC enhances TimeSaver predictive dialer to support VoIP — international call centers can locate dialers in one country and agents in another without long-distance charges.
February 2003
PEC opens its first international branch in New Delhi, India — tasked with promoting and supporting sales throughout Southeast Asia and Eastern Africa.
June 2003
Pulse, Inc., the largest reseller of Quintum VoIP gateways, chooses PEC's CardSaver as its preferred VoIP billing and call management software.
June 2002
CardSaver is enhanced to support prepaid calling cards and postpaid calling services. Within six months, CardSaver is installed in over 50 sites worldwide.
March 2002
PEC introduces CardSaver™ VoIP Billing and Call Management software to its telecom product line — initially designed to support billing for VoIP termination.
Early 2001
Tecore Corporation, a premier manufacturer of cellular phone switches, begins selling PEC's messaging platforms with their switches. PEC adds Short Message Service (SMS) support.
September 2000
PEC introduces the TimeSaver Predictive Dialer — used by inbound and outbound call centers to market and support their products and services.
2000
PEC adds TNPP over the Internet — a feature used by paging companies.
1990s · The foundation of voice processing
1999
PEC adds Voice-to-Email, Fax-to-Email, and Email notification features to its software. Also adds multi-party conferencing to its messaging platform.
Mid-1997
PEC purchases a 7,000 square foot office building in Aberdeen, New Jersey — 35 miles south of New York City. PEC relocates operations from Englishtown, NJ to the new Aberdeen headquarters (still our HQ today).
1997
PEC enhances products to support Telephony Signaling 7 and ISDN Europe. Applications include voicemail, call routing, fax processing, conferencing, and IVR.
1996
PEC introduces its line of Windows NT-based voice processing products, alongside an OS/2-based line. Ships 60 Windows NT units in the first month after introduction.
1994
BPL Telecom Ltd. of India, the largest telecom group in India, selects PEC voice products for the Indian market. Systems used by Coca-Cola, Oracle, Texas Instruments, Sheraton Hotels, Bombay Cellular, IBM, and many others.
1993
Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania certify PEC's entire line of voice processing products. PEC begins marketing throughout Eastern Europe.
1992
Portugal Telecom certifies digital PEC voice products for the Portuguese market.
1991
PEC introduces its digital line of voice processing systems in the United States and Europe. Products support E1 R2MFC, ISDN, and SS7 protocols.
1990
The incumbent candidate of the Venezuelan presidential election chooses DialSaver to market his campaign. He is successful and returns to office.
1980s · The founding years
1989
Mobile Data Systems (later acquired by Motorola) begins deploying the CallAhead® voice processing systems developed by PEC. A CallAhead system calls a residential customer before dispatching a technician to turn natural gas on or off.
1988
The DialSaver™ autodialer is introduced to the PEC product line — used for direct marketing, non-profits, and political campaigns.
1988
International Voice Exchange, a Utah company, selects PEC to provide voicemail systems for the company's franchisees.
1987
PEC develops VoiceSaver® — voicemail and auto-attendant systems for trucking companies. One of the first of its kind. Truck drivers gain an efficient means of communicating with their base office and family at home.
1985
PEC develops the Check Calls system for trucking companies — truck drivers enter data (hub reading, hours on the road, miles driven) using Touch-Tone phones in truck stops.
